My Story

My story starts at SDSU, where I began as an Interior Design major after high school graduation. Obviously, that didn’t stick! Although I still love repurposing furniture, my path took a turn toward numbers and helping people with their finances.

In 2008, I earned associate degrees in both Financial Services and Business Administration, then spent 16 years in the dairy nutrition industry in a financial role. While working in the dairy industry, I decided to go back to school and obtain my bachelor’s in business with a specialty in Accounting CPA. In 2021, I decided to take a leap and start Five 5 One Taxes while still working in the dairy industry. Over time, my focus shifted fully to Five 5 One.

My husband, Justin, and I live in Hawarden with our four kids — Brady, Brooke, Addilyn, and Emmalee — and our three dogs Remco, Charlie, and Opal. The kids keep us on our toes with their activities, and we stay active in our church, golfing and the occasional trip to ride trails in our side by side.

What I love most about this work is getting to know each client personally and helping them understand how to get the best return possible. I’m grateful for the flexibility this career gives me — to be there for my family, support my community, and even coach middle school softball, one of my favorite things to do.
